Your digestive system is important for breaking down food into nutrients, which the body uses for energy, growth, and cell repair. Food and drink must be changed into smaller molecules of nutrients before the blood absorbs them and carries them to cells throughout the body.


Our digestive systems can get 'out of whack' if we don't look after them. Use these 6 tips to reset your digestive system to ensure that your body is getting what it needs to function well.

Our energy, growth and cell repair came from nutrients which need to be broken down in our digestive system to be absorbed effectively. By having a good digestive system the body can absorb these nutrients.


  1. Alkalize your digestive system by drinking warm lemon water the first thing in the morning before your coffee! I like to put the whole slices in. As well as the lemons fights the any acidic build up from the day before it also detox and support your liver.

  2. Chew your food properly. By chewing the food properly, not eating too fast you use your mouth to to help the digestive system to break down larger food particles into smaller pieces.This also help your stomach metabolize the food better.

  3. Get enough fibre. Having fiber (prebiotic) in your diet is very important for good digestion. USDA's recommended daily amount for adults up to age 50 is 25 grams for woman and 38 grams for men.Women and men older than 50 should have around 21 and 30 grams daily.

  4. Support your body with probiotics. Have probiotic daily.Probiotic are the good bacteria which help to support healthy body system from mouth to your guts.They also aids digestion, improve nutrients absorption as well as a great immune booster.

  5. Drink lots of water! Water is essential for good health. It helps break down food which aids digestion.

  6. Avoid stress. Stress has a big impact on health. It also can affect every part of the digestive systems. Avoiding it may sound easier than it is. The first step is recognising stress and then it's about taking steps to eliminate the causes of the stress.
